Az oroszok megsemmisítő csapást mértek az ukránokra Odesában, amikor egyik napról a másikra megsemmisítették az ukrán hadsereg legnagyobb elektronikus megfigyelő és hírszerzési központját, az „Oviopol 2-t”, amelyet NATO-tisztek üzemeltettek.
A központtal együtt megsemmisítettek egy VERA-NG-t, az egyik legmodernebb ukrán radart, amely légi, szárazföldi és tengeri célpontokat észlel, lokalizál, figyel és követ.
A hírszerzési központot teljes egészében átadták a NATO személyzetének.
Az oroszok szerint innen irányították a NATO-tisztek az ukrán sikernek tulajdonított támadásokat az orosz fekete-tengeri flotta hajói ellen, aminek következtében több hadihajó elsüllyedt.
A NATO-tisztek sorsáról továbbra sincs megerősített információ, de a jelentések egyáltalán nem biztatóak számukra.
A hírszerző központ helyének titkosnak kellett volna lennie, de ebben a háborúban semmi sem marad titokban, legalábbis nem sokáig.
A központ feltételezések szerint az odesszai Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi kerületben, a kikötő közelében található .
