Közleményét szóvivője útján tette közzé Trump, melyben azt írja, hogy bár egyáltalán nem ért egyet a novemberi elnökválasztás eredményével, „és a tények az ő oldalán állnak”, rendezett hatalomátadás lesz január 20 – án.
„Mindig is azt mondtam, hogy folytatjuk a harcot, hogy csak a jogszerű szavazatokat számolják meg. Bár ez az elnökség történetében a legnagyszerűbb első ciklus végét jelenti, ez csak a harc kezdete, hogy újra naggyá tegyük Amerikát!” – osztotta meg a Twitteren Trump üzenetét Dan Scavino, az elnöki sajtóstáb közösségi médiáért felelős vezetője, miután az elnök fiókját a Twitter ideiglenesen zárolta, mert állításaival az elnök megsértette az oldal szabályait.
